E100 - Curcumin
By the Daat team · Updated October 30, 2026
E100 is curcumin, the yellow pigment of turmeric. It is a natural colour.
If you have a jar of turmeric at home, you already know it. Manufacturers use a concentrated extract to colour mustard, yellow cheese, sauces, margarine and sweets.
Labels may list it as E100, curcumin or turmeric extract. The amounts are tiny, so you will rarely taste it.
233 products in our catalog contain E100, or 1.4% of those with an ingredient list. Most of them are chocolate and sweets and cakes, biscuits and pastries.
