E967 - Xylitol
By the Daat team · Updated October 30, 2026
E967, xylitol, is a sugar alcohol with about 40% fewer calories than sugar, common in sugar-free gum.
It does not cause tooth decay, which is why "tooth-friendly" gum is built on it. Products with more than 10% added polyols must warn that excessive consumption may have a laxative effect.
If you have a dog, keep it away: xylitol is highly toxic to dogs, even in small amounts.
89 products in our catalog contain E967, or 0.5% of those with an ingredient list. Most of them are chocolate and sweets.
